Jim is a qualified electrician that has worn many hats prior to founding Utech, including Electrician, Foreman and Project Manager. Jim has a highly refined skillset, excelling in relationship building, strategy, project management, design and negotiation. Jim is the Founder, Managing Director, and is a driving force behind Utech’s continued success. |
MATTHEW LEA
Director
Matthew has had over 25 years of experience in the electrical construction industry during which time has delivered countless successful projects of all sizes. Matthew has very strong technical ability and is considered 'the subject matter expert'. He known for his unique and noteworthy problem-solving aptitude within the electrical industry not just within Utech. Matthew’s expertise includes electrical, project management, electrical design/engineering, logic control, programming, systems integration, switchboard design, switchboard manufacturing and more. Matthew is Co-Founder and Director of Utech. |
RYAN WATSON
General Manager
Introducing Ryan, a seasoned leader with a background in finance, operations, and business development. With over a decade of experience in across the electrical industry, Ryan has successfully navigated various sectors, including health, aged care, industrial, residential, and commercial. At Utech, Ryan assumes a multifaceted leadership role, overseeing finance, strategy, operations, technology, and compliance with a proven track record of success. Armed with a Master's degree in Business & Commerce, his educational achievements underscore his capabilities. |
STEVEN BRIMSElectrical Design Manager
Introducing Steven Brims, Utech’s Electrical Design Manager at Utech who leads our engineering team. Steven boasts over two decades of experience in engineering consultancy and construction, with a significant portion of his career spent at prestigious firms like Cundall, Wood and Grieve Engineers (now known as Stantec). Later, he held the position of Associate Director at Stanec. Steven's extensive expertise and leadership contribute significantly to Utech's success and innovation. His career began as an electrician, providing him with valuable hands-on experience in the industry, returning to University to gain his Honours Degree in Electrical Engineer, Steven brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. |
KIERAN CLEARY
Project Manager
Kieran has a Bachelor of Engineering degree majoring in Construction Technology. Kieran joined Utech in 2010 and has been project manager on a number of projects across various sectors such as residential, commercial, health, industrial and retail. He has worked on some of our largest projects such as North Shore Heath Hub. Kieran’s well-defined skillset includes; leadership, project management, value engineering and HSEQ. In addition to his role as a Project Manager, Kieran takes a keen interest in continual improvement, technology and new systems we use here at Utech. |
JAKE SFAMENI
Project Manager
Jake joined Utech in 2012 as an apprentice and is now a valued member of the Project Management team. Jake is a qualified electrician and has completed a Diploma of Project Management. His experience and skillset are utilized in overseeing large commercial projects. A recent example of Jake’s Project Management capability is the successful delivery of Bowral District Hospital. Jake’s technical ability, project management skillset and organisational aptitude sets him apart from his peers. Jake was also the Product Owner in rolling out Utech’s cloud project management and collaborations system and also assisted in the development of Utech’s ISO Management Systems. |
SHAFRAAZ ALI
Project Manager
Shafraaz (Sip) has been with Utech since it was established in 2004. Sip has found success across multiple management and leadership roles, including Project Manager, Site Foreman, Purchasing Manager and Estimator. Shafraaz has managed a broad spectrum of projects, including residential, commercial, aged-care facilities and health- care facilities. Sips broad skillset and vast experience make him an invaluable member of the Utech leadership team. |
JOE ANDREWS
Project Manager
Joe has decades of success in the electrical construction industry. Prior to joining Utech in 2014, Joe’s roles include senior site positions working in New York and London, two global epicentres in large scale commercial construction. Joe’s leadership, technical ability and interpersonal skills make him an asset to our organisation. This is seen in the exceptional delivery of Mona Vale Community Health Centre, Wenty Leagues Club and many more Utech projects. Joe always takes an active role in developing his team and ensuring the success of his projects. |
STEPHEN MARTIN
Contracts Manager
Stephen has been with Utech for over 6 years and his roles include Site Manager, Project Manager and Contracts Manager. Stephen has worked successfully on a number of Utech’s projects including Bowral Hospital and Kiama Aged Care. As with all most of the Utech leadership team, Stephen is a qualified electrician with many years’ experience on site and in the office. Stephen has been successful in all his roles and this can be credited to his trade skills, project management and communication aptitudes. |
CHRISTINA DENYERFinance Manager
Christina has 27 years’ experience in finance and has been Finance Manager for Utech since joining us in 2015. Prior to this Christina has had several corporate leadership roles including Regional Manager, Team Manager and Data Control Manager. She has established international finance teams, including the roll out and management of offshoring. At Utech as with previous roles Christina has led numerous transitions between financial systems and software packages. During Christina’s time at Utech she has streamlined financial operations and compliance. |
YVONNE HARPASAdministration Manager
Yvonne has been with Utech for 15 years. Her previous business administration experience is with large corporates including Price Waterhouse Cooper and Uniting Care. Yvonne is MYOB certified and has completed Cert IV in WHS and Business Administration. At Utech she manages a broad set of responsibilities including procurement, operations, asset & resource management, apprenticeships, and general business admin. Yvonne is essential to the smooth operations at Utech. |
